How do I read the table with the recommended daily nutrient intake for puppies?

We regularly receive questions on the puppy feeding table. And yes, it's true that puppy guidelines are not easy and it's hard to put everything into a simple table.
That's why you will find below the table of Joli, the Jack Russel from Caroline, our Jolipet brand manager.

Step 1: Determining your puppy's target weight at his current age

It's important to know your puppy's target weight for the first 12 months of life. For an adult Jack Russel, this is between 6 and 8 kg, depending on the height at the withers (25 to 38 cm).

In addition, there are growth charts based on adult weight that show your puppy's weight during the first 12 months. You'll find them in this appendix.

The table of target weights month by month over the first 12 months for a Jack Russel is then as follows:

For example, by the third month, the target weight for a Jack Russell is between 2.6 and 3.4 kg.

Step 2: Determining the Recommended Daily Allowance (RDA)

To determine the recommended daily nutrient intake you need, look at the chart. Below is the table for Jolipet Puppy with Horse:

For a 3 month old puppy, you have to look at the first line. At a target weight of between 2.6 and 3.4 kg, your puppy should weigh just over 240 g.

In the table below, the full calculation has been made, month by month.

These are of course only guidelines and your dog's weight must be carefully controlled.
In addition to the calorific value of the diet, the RDA also depends on your dog's metabolism (as in humans) and activity level. If you have any questions, you can always contact us, or the breeder where you have your puppy or your veterinarian.
